Last weekend I was asked the following question: If while I am competing somebody from the public  gives me advise like “more forward” or “turn” or similar assistance or if somebody starts using the whip to influence my horse, is this a fault (minus 2 points) or a cause for elimination?

In accordance with the FEI Dressage Rules, “Any outside help by voice, signs, etc. is considered as illegal or unauthorized assistance to an Athlete or to his Horse. An Athlete or Horse receiving positive unauthorized assistance must be eliminated.”

Therefore, riders, trainers, friends, etc, should be aware, and considera all the harm that they could do to their students and/or Friends. The judge will have to apply the rule and you will be eliminated.
